Work Ready Certificate Components

The WRC consists of two parts:

  • A portfolio, and

  • an Interview.

We recommend students create a website or blog page to serve as their Work Readiness Portfolio.

Here are some website design sites we recommend:

Students’ Portfolios MUST Contain:

  1. ONE to THREE pieces of evidence that illustrate readiness in EACH Portrait Skill

  2. COMMENTARY that aligns with the Portfolio Assessment Rubric

  3. A resume, cover letter, and two letters of recommendation (these could be used as a form of evidence)

Curating, Assessing, & Submitting Work Ready Portfolios

  1. Students design their Work Ready Portfolio using the Sample Portfolio as a guide and with scaffolding to support students’ abilities

  2.  Students compile and curate artifacts for each PoG skill and develop coinciding commentary using the Commentary Rubric as a standard

  3. Teacher provides feedback in alignment with the Commentary Rubric and helps students prepare for submitting Portfolio for assessment and approval

  4. After students make sure artifacts and commentary sufficiently serve as evidence for readiness, teacher submits portfolio to SCOE for assessment

  5. A SCOE assessor will use the Commentary Rubric to score submitted Portfolios and either return for revisions or give the student a passing score

Once a teacher submits a student’s portfolio the student will be enrolled to complete the Work Ready Interview. Teachers should only submit portfolios of students who are “ready”.

Preparing for & Engaging in the Work Ready Interview

  1. Teachers confirm a student is ready for the Work Ready Interview and work with a SCOE coordinator to schedule participants, time, and location of interview.

  2. Students familiarize themselves with Work Ready Interview Assessment

  3. Students prepare for the Work Ready Interview by practicing, modeling, and discussing interview protocols.
